Twelve apparel-focused companies made the 2026 China Top 500 Private Enterprises list, and Zhejiang alone claimed seven of those seats. That concentration ratio matters more than the headline itself. At a time when the industry broadly debates consumption downgrading and order migration, the regional clustering of leading apparel firms is actually intensifying, signaling that scale advantages are shifting from the brand end toward the supply chain end.

Background

The All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce conducted its 28th survey of large-scale private enterprises, covering 6,350 companies with annual revenue exceeding 1 billion yuan. The top 500 were selected by revenue. JD.com, Alibaba, Hengli Group, Huawei and BYD took the top five spots. More than 30 textile and apparel-related companies made the list, with 12 primarily in apparel, spanning menswear, womenswear, sportswear, down jackets, underwear and childrenswear.

Zhejiang's seven include Youngor, Xin Feng Ming, Peacebird, Semir, Shenzhou Knitting, Zhongzhe Holdings and Boyang Holdings. Jiangsu contributed Heilan, Bosideng and Yalu, while Fujian's Anta and Inner Mongolia's Erdos each secured one seat. This distribution is no coincidence: Zhejiang simultaneously possesses brand operation, knitwear OEM and chemical fiber raw material capabilities, giving it unmatched supply chain completeness nationwide.

Keqiao district stood out notably. Zhejiang Baoye Construction and Jinggong Holdings entered the main top 500, while Jinggong Holdings, Zhejiang Tiansheng Holdings, Zhejiang Libo Holdings, Zhejiang Yongli Industrial and Shaoxing Keqiao Hengming Chemical Fiber made the manufacturing sub-list, one more than the previous year.

Industry Impact

Keqiao's listing structure reveals a critical signal: companies in chemical fiber and manufacturing are gaining scale status comparable to brand enterprises. The inclusion of upstream players like Hengming Chemical Fiber indicates rising concentration in polyester filament and differentiated fiber capacity. For downstream fabric mills and garment factories, pricing power on the raw material side will further consolidate toward the top.

From a buyer's perspective, Shenzhou Knitting's high-end knitwear OEM capability complements the brand operation strengths of Peacebird and Semir within the same province. This co-location of brand, OEM and raw material shortens the physical distance from yarn to finished garment and reduces communication and logistics costs. The flip side: smaller factories within the same industrial belt face more direct order competition.

Jiangsu's three focus on menswear and down jackets, Fujian's Anta represents the sports track, and Erdos locks into cashmere. Regional industrial belts are forming differentiated positioning rather than homogeneous competition. For buyers, this means the reference weight of regional labels when selecting suppliers is rising: knitwear OEM in Ningbo-Shaoxing, down jackets in Changshu, sportswear fabrics in Quanzhou.

Practical Guidance

For Buyers - Prioritize Zhejiang-based firms with integrated raw material, weaving and garment capabilities for better delivery stability - For down jackets and menswear, lean toward southern Jiangsu where supply chain spillover from brand enterprises is evident - For fiber-intensive categories, establish direct contact with Keqiao upstream firms to cut intermediary markups

For Exporters - Keqiao's growing manufacturing list presence signals stronger export qualifications and capacity, making it a priority sourcing destination for fabrics - Monitor overseas expansion of Zhejiang's leading apparel firms, as OEM order spillover may create supporting opportunities for smaller exporters - Incorporate upstream fiber price volatility into cost models, as rising raw material concentration means faster price transmission

The list is an outcome, not a cause. Behind those 12 apparel companies lies a deeper shift from channel-driven to efficiency-driven competition. Those who can shorten the supply chain and weight their manufacturing footprint more heavily will occupy stronger positions in the next cycle.
