Fragmented orders are rewriting the peak-season logic of Keqiao's textile market. Since mid-to-late September, foot traffic has rebounded noticeably across Dongsheng Road, the East Market and the North Market of China Textile City, yet the large-volume orders of previous years are largely absent. What has taken their place is a rhythm of dozens of color cards sent as samples, small trial orders, and production scheduled after the holiday. Industry data indicates that this autumn-winter stocking period is characterized by rising volumes, stable prices and fragmented orders—a shift driven by downstream brands controlling inventory and placing cautious trial orders.
A Changing Transaction Structure
In terms of categories, thermal fabrics, woolen, knit stretch and brushed materials have become the focus of buyer inquiries, while demand for plain-bedding, wedding-series fabrics and sofa textiles has risen steadily in the home textile zone. Unlike previous years, buyers no longer lock in bulk orders at once. Instead, they compare composition, color fastness and minimum order quantities item by item with color cards in hand, confirm sample fabrics on site and arrange production after the holiday.
This rhythm places higher demands on factory scheduling. Stores send out dozens of fabric color cards daily, with online inquiries and offline inspections overlapping. Factory order books are full, but smaller order sizes mean more frequent style changes and higher production switching costs. For buyers, small-batch quick response reduces inventory risk, but it also tests delivery stability and the efficiency of confirming technical specifications.
Cost Transmission and Innovation Breakthrough
Upstream chemical fiber and cotton yarn prices have recently fluctuated upward, and cost pressure is transmitting along the supply chain to the fabric end. Merchants are taking orders more cautiously, generally insisting on case-by-case negotiation to strictly control order risk. This means the validity period of fabric quotations is shortening, and buyers need to make decisions faster—otherwise they may face higher costs if raw material prices fluctuate further after the holiday.
The structural preferences of foreign trade buyers are also strengthening. Eco-friendly recycled fabrics and functional fabrics clearly command stronger bargaining power. Differentiated products such as waterproof-breathable, antistatic, recycled polyester and eco-friendly dyeing and finishing fabrics have become key to exploring overseas markets. Many merchants are proactively reducing stock of ordinary commodity goods and shifting focus to new materials and new processes. Keqiao fabrics continue to be sold to more than 190 countries and regions worldwide. The exhibition-market linkage model and livestreaming sales operate in parallel, with online traffic generation and offline sample inspection breaking geographical limits.
Relying solely on low-price competition is no longer viable for gaining a firm foothold in peak season—this has become a consensus among a growing number of business operators. Increasing R&D investment, closely following apparel fashion trends and continuously updating patterns are becoming common choices for the industrial belt in responding to cost fluctuations and order fragmentation.
