A single machine covers 250 mu per day with a recovery rate exceeding 90%, effectively replacing 100 workers. On June 27, at the 9th China-Eurasia Expo’s Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps exhibition area, Shihezi Hansen Smart Agriculture Machinery Co., Ltd. showcased the 4JMLQ-210A plastic film recycler, using hard data to dispel farmers' doubts about mechanized film recovery.
Nicknamed the "cleaner" of cotton fields, the machine is the result of nearly a decade of collaborative research by Academician Chen Xuegeng’s team at Shihezi University. In 2021, Hansen partnered with Shihezi University and Jiangsu University to launch an intelligent straw-shredding and plastic film recovery machine, solving three major technical challenges: recovery, shredding, and soil conservation. After upgrading the hydraulic flexible transmission system this year, product sales have exceeded 20 million yuan.
Industry Impact: From White Waste to Green Rebirth
The pain point of plastic film pollution is best understood by Wang Xinyu, a cotton grower from Shawan, Xinjiang. After 20 years of farming, removing used plastic film remains his biggest headache. Traditional manual cleaning yields at most 2 mu per person per day, and the recovered film is mixed with soil and straw, making it nearly worthless for reuse. The 4JMLQ-210A not only boosts efficiency but also enables the processing of waste film into wood-plastic pallets, drip irrigation tapes, and recycled films, creating a closed loop from "white waste" to "green rebirth."
Feng Haisong, Hansen’s technical director, calculated two sets of benefits: economically, selling recovered film reduces planting costs; ecologically, removing white waste protects soil quality. The company also provides full application guidance, allowing parameter adjustments based on different crops and soil conditions, meaning the machine is not a one-size-fits-all solution but a targeted tool.
Malaysian buyer Chen Jinming’s interest reveals a broader market opportunity. In Malaysia, pepper cultivation widely uses plastic film, leading to severe pollution, but small, irregular fields force reliance on manual labor. Hansen’s recycler features a wide-angle flexible traction device and agile turning, making it ideal for small plots. This signals that the application of film recovery equipment is expanding from Xinjiang cotton fields to global smallholder farming regions.
