In the last week of June 2026, the textile commodity market showed clear correction signals. According to public industry monitoring data, during the 25th week (June 22–26), only two out of 17 tracked items posted gains: cotton yarn 21S and 32S, rising a mere 0.14% and 0.10% respectively. Meanwhile, 13 items declined, with two falling over 5%, representing 11.8% of the tracked basket.
Upstream Raw Material Pressure, Chemical Fiber Chain Weakens Across the Board
Acrylonitrile led the correction with a 6.92% weekly drop, falling from 10,833 yuan/ton to 10,083 yuan/ton, though its year-on-year gain remains 25%, indicating froth is being released. PTA followed closely, down 5.10% from 6,042 yuan/ton to 5,734 yuan/ton. Polyester products all declined: POY, FDY, and DTY fell 2.36%, 1.62%, and 2.60% respectively, with DTY settling near 9,369 yuan/ton.
What does this mean? The cost support for chemical fiber upstream is rapidly weakening. As the core raw material for the polyester chain, PTA's decline directly compresses margins for polyester filament and staple fiber, and dampens buying appetite from downstream weaving mills. The sharp fluctuation in acrylonitrile also creates ripple effects on acrylic and ABS-related textile auxiliaries. Buyers should be wary of further bottom-seeking in the near term.
Cotton Yarn Edges Up, but Cotton Shows Signs of Following
In contrast to the broad chemical fiber decline, cotton yarn 21S and 32S inched up 0.14% and 0.10%, closing at 23,400 yuan/ton and 24,725 yuan/ton, with year-on-year gains of 7.5% and 6.57%. However, upstream cotton fell 1.23% to 17,418 yuan/ton, still up 16.08% year-on-year. This divergence suggests mills are struggling to balance cost and demand.
Such divergence is unsustainable. Cotton's decline will eventually pass through to yarn. The current slight uptick in cotton yarn is more likely inertia from earlier orders than genuine demand recovery. Once mills complete restocking, cotton yarn prices will likely follow cotton into a correction. Viscose staple fiber and rayon yarn held flat at 14,200 yuan/ton and 17,925 yuan/ton, showing relative stability among substitutes during the wait-and-see period.
Nylon and Raw Silk Weaken Together; Premium Products Not Immune
Nylon products fell 0.88% to 1.21% this week, with nylon FDY down 1.21% to 16,300 yuan/ton, and nylon DTY and POY at 15,840 yuan/ton and 13,650 yuan/ton. Raw silk dropped 1.99% to 428,100 yuan/ton, already down 10.12% year-on-year, making it the only item with a negative annual comparison.
Raw silk's persistent weakness deserves attention. As a premium textile raw material, its slump reflects sluggish silk consumption and structural adjustments in downstream garment export orders. Nylon's moderate decline is linked to easing caprolactam costs, and the chain is expected to remain in weak oscillation in the near term.
