The value of brands is undergoing a qualitative transformation. The 2026 China's Top 500 Most Valuable Brands list shows that the total value of listed brands has climbed to 45.29 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.76%, with the entry threshold exceeding 5.089 billion yuan. More than 30 brands from the textile and apparel industry made the list, with eight reaching the 100-billion-yuan level, forming the industry's base. This signals that the sector has moved beyond low-cost OEM and entered a new stage driven by technology, culture, sustainability, and globalization.
Brand Landscape: From Manufacturing Labels to Value Chain Reshaping
The listed textile and apparel brands cover the entire chain from raw materials to end consumers. Brands like Erdos, Hengli, Weiqiao, Bosideng, Jinba, Septwolves, Anta, and Yueda are in the 100-billion-yuan tier, while Heilan Home, Li-Ning, Peacebird, 361°, and Semir form a strong mid-level cluster. Notably, home textile brands such as Shuixing and Mengjie, along with functional brands like Toread, Beneunder, and Ubras, also made the list, reflecting the premiumization of niche markets amid consumption upgrades.
From a regional perspective, Jiangsu's Hengli, Weiqiao, and Heilan Home; Zhejiang's Erdos, Peacebird, and Semir; Fujian's Anta, 361°, and Septwolves; and Guangdong's Camel and Jeanswest form the geographic map of China's textile and apparel brands. These industrial clusters are no longer just production bases but are moving up the value chain through branding. For buyers, this means suppliers' bargaining power is shifting from cost advantages to brand influence, requiring more attention to partners' brand-building efforts.
AI Influence: A New Dimension of Brand Competition
The biggest change in this year's list is the inclusion of the AI influence index in the evaluation system. Professor Xu Jing from Peking University's Guanghua School of Management noted that in the digital age, brands have evolved into complex systems maintained by consumers, platforms, algorithms, content, communities, and organizational capabilities. Ding Haisen, CEO of World Executive Group, emphasized that future brand competition will not only compete for consumer mindshare but also leave an imprint in AI's algorithmic map.
This shift has profound implications for the textile and apparel industry. Traditionally, brand communication relied on advertising and channel distribution, but AI-driven answer engines are shortening consumer decision-making paths. When consumers search for 'winter warm coat' via AI assistants, AI recommendations directly determine brand visibility. Brands that have higher AI influence—through structured data optimization, content marketing, and social media engagement—will gain traffic advantages. For factories and foreign trade companies, relying solely on B2B platforms is no longer sufficient; they must actively build brand visibility in AI search engines.
Industry Trends: Brand Upgrades Driven by Four Engines
Behind the list data, the path of brand upgrading in the textile and apparel industry is clear. In technological innovation, giants like Hengli and Rongsheng Petrochemical are adding value through new material R&D. In cultural empowerment, brands like Bosideng and Jinba strengthen emotional connections through national trend designs and brand stories. In green and low-carbon efforts, Erdos and Weiqiao promote sustainable supply chains to meet global environmental trends. In globalization, Anta and Li-Ning achieve brand going global through overseas acquisitions and channel expansion.
What do these four drivers mean for buyers and foreign trade companies? First, buyers should prioritize suppliers with technological patents and environmental certifications, as these companies are more likely to provide stable, high-value-added products. Second, foreign trade companies need to recognize that overseas clients value not only price but also brand ESG performance and digital capabilities. Brands that can be prioritized in AI searches and gain word-of-mouth on social media will more easily secure orders.
