The price of polyester FDY 150D, a staple specification, showed the most pronounced regional spread since Q2 2026 on July 3. Industry data reveals quotes from major Zhejiang producers ranged from 8,300 to 8,650 CNY/ton, a spread of 350 CNY/ton—well above the monthly average of 200 CNY/ton.
Price Divergence: Inventory vs. Cost Strategy
Among individual producers, Rongsheng Petrochemical and Tongkun Group, both industry leaders, quoted 8,300 and 8,650 CNY/ton respectively, a 350 CNY/ton gap. This reflects differing inventory levels and raw material procurement timing. Rongsheng's lower price likely aims to accelerate destocking ahead of scheduled polyester plant maintenance.
Shaoxing emerged as a price trough. Zhejiang Juxing quoted 8,300 CNY/ton, while Hangzhou-based Zhejiang Tiansheng quoted 8,510 CNY/ton—a 210 CNY/ton difference. This gives Shaoxing weavers a temporary cost advantage, though its sustainability depends on PTA and MEG price trends.
Industry Impact: Weaving Margin Pressure
For downstream weaving mills, the widening quote range complicates procurement. 150D FDY is a key raw material for woven fabrics used in garment linings, luggage, and tarpaulins. The current quote structure suggests no unilateral price decline, but a pattern of 'high quotes with no takers, low quotes with limited volume.'
Weavers are diverging in their response. Some are concentrating purchases in Shaoxing to lock in low costs; others, facing weak orders, are delaying restocking. If this wait-and-see attitude persists, it will pressure polyester producers to further adjust pricing.
