Changle District holds the top spot in China's chemical fiber blended yarn production, with its polyester-cotton blends, regenerated cellulose fiber blends, and differentiated yarns forming a unique industrial cluster. However, scale advantages have not automatically translated into digital advantages. A recent expert team organized by the China Cotton Textile Association found that six representative local enterprises face dual challenges of poor data interoperability and business process restructuring during their digital transformation.
Industrial Cluster Diagnosis: Digital Gaps Amid Scale Effects
Changle's cotton textile competitiveness has long relied on raw material support and cluster effects. While enterprises like Zhengxin Textile, Xingyi Textile, and Keda Textile boast considerable capacity, on-site inspections revealed a common weakness: production hardware is relatively up-to-date, but digital management software lags behind. Discussions hosted by Xu Xiaoyuan, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Cotton Textile Association, confirmed that breaking data silos and achieving lean upgrades are the most urgent needs for local enterprises.
Zheng Hong, President of the Fuzhou Changle District Cotton Textile Association, emphasized in his speech that technological transformation and product innovation must proceed in tandem to solidify Changle's leading position in the blended yarn segment. This implies that simply introducing automated equipment is insufficient to cope with global supply chain volatility; enterprises must shift from 'hardware-driven' to 'data-driven' operations.
Technology Implementation: Dual-Track Path of Machine Renewal and System Upgrade
The solutions proposed by the expert team present a clear dual-track approach. Lu Liqiu, Chairman of Jiangsu Haima Textile Machinery, outlined a strategy of 'machine renewal with system upgrade,' specifically targeting intelligent doffing systems for ring spinning frames and intelligent tray feeding systems for winding machines. These technologies have proven successful in domestic applications, with the core value lying in building long-term sustainable cost advantages through integrated spinning-winding systems.
For Changle enterprises, this means technological transformation is no longer piecemeal but a systemic upgrade across the entire process from opening to winding. Professor Yan Taohai from Minjiang University offered new product perspectives, introducing synthetic fiber modification technologies, regenerated cellulose fibers, and regenerated protein fibers. These technologies provide feasible paths for Changle enterprises to move from homogeneous competition to functional differentiation.
Operational Resilience: Dual Insurance of Futures Hedging and Data Management
Researcher Liu Qiannan's hedging case analysis from Galaxy Futures revealed another risk mitigation dimension beyond digitalization. The report noted that slowing global economic growth suppresses consumption expectations, but geopolitical tensions in the Strait of Hormuz could raise production costs and shift orders to China. Against this contradictory backdrop, enterprises need to use futures markets for inventory management and cost locking.
Zhou Yejun, President of the Cotton Textile Association's Yarn Branch, further pointed out in a special report that digital management enhances a company's 'soft operational strength.' When raw material price volatility combines with uncertain external demand, hedging tools provide a price safety net, while data-driven lean management optimizes internal operational efficiency. Together, they form the full-chain resilience of an enterprise.
