During July 4-5, the polyester filament market in Shengze and Jiaxing maintained stable list prices, but actual transactions revealed hidden flexibility as some polyester factories offered discounts to move inventory. Downstream weaving and texturing mills have significantly curtailed purchasing, adopting a cautious make-to-order approach. The overall market sentiment leans conservative.
Product Divergence: Warp Knitting Supports Select Specs
Among specific products, DTY network yarn 75D/144F maintained good sales in warp knitting applications, while DTY black yarn 75D used in jacquard lining fabrics showed stable demand. However, conventional DTY 100D experienced slight sales decline due to changing raw material structures in weaving, with prices barely stable. In FDY fine denier segment, semi-dull 54D/24F and 68D/24F remained active in warp knitting machines, with mainstream prices at CNY 8,900-9,000/ton and CNY 8,600-8,700/ton respectively.
Notably, bright FDY series showed clear divergence: the 150D/84F variant saw strong sales driven by robust demand for polyester-nylon interwoven fabrics, while 50D/24F and 75D/36F suffered from low volumes and weakening prices. This reflects a structural shift in end-use garment fabric demand from thin to thicker constructions, warning upstream suppliers about inventory risks for fine-denier bright products.
The POY market also exhibited uneven performance. Weaving-grade 50D and 75D saw poor demand with prices barely maintained. In contrast, melt-direct spinning mills reported rising sales for texturing-grade POY 75D/144F, 100D/192F, and 150D/288F, indicating recovering buying interest in medium-coarse denier multi-filament yarns.
Low Downstream Inventories: Imminent Restocking Window
Both weaving mills and texturing plants currently hold low polyester filament inventories. Industry data shows that after weeks of cautious purchasing, physical stocks have fallen to historically low ranges. Combined with polyester mills offering discounts, a round of rigid-demand restocking is expected within the next 1-2 weeks. However, given the prevailing bearish sentiment, the scale and sustainability of this restocking remain uncertain, likely characterized by phased, small-lot purchases.
Yarn Market: Polyester Yarn Under Pressure, Viscose Yarn Awaiting Adjustment
In the yarn segment, cotton yarn 32s and 21s continued to sell actively, with 32s primarily supplying air-jet looms for luxury fabric production; prices remained stable with minor adjustments. Polyester-cotton and polyester-viscose yarns traded steadily, with selected specs seeing slight price increases. Pure polyester yarn stabilized but faces underlying pressure: 50s moved slowly, while 45s saw decent volumes due to use in polyester-cotton lining. Upstream polyester staple fiber 1.56*38mm averaged CNY 7,500/ton, but pure polyester yarn is expected to undergo moderate adjustments.
Viscose yarn 10s remained in demand for diamond-cotton fabric, while other specifications traded lightly. Viscose staple fiber prices adjusted around CNY 14,200/ton, providing cost support downstream, but overall viscose yarn market is also expected to continue adjusting with limited upside.
