On the price list of July 3, 2026, the polyester DTY 150D/48F variety showed a rare dual-track quotation: Rongsheng Petrochemical quoted 9150 yuan/ton, while Zhejiang Juxing Chemical Fiber quoted 9000 yuan/ton. The 150-yuan spread is uncommon on regular trading days, hinting at diverging pricing logics across different segments of the industrial chain.
Direct Triggers for Price Divergence
From the cost side, PTA and MEG, the main raw materials for polyester DTY, have seen increased price volatility recently. Public data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that the average price of PTA in the East China market in late June fell by about 2.3% from the beginning of the month, providing room for DTY producers to cut prices. However, not all companies chose to adjust synchronously—Rongsheng Petrochemical, as an integrated leading enterprise, has a higher raw material self-sufficiency rate and a thicker cost buffer, thus its quotation remains relatively firm.
Zhejiang Juxing Chemical Fiber's lower quotation reflects a different reality: small and medium-sized texturing enterprises mostly rely on spot markets for raw material procurement and are more inclined to pass on cost savings quickly to win orders. This strategic difference is particularly evident in industrial clusters such as Shaoxing and Xiaoshan, where regional production capacity is highly concentrated and price competition among enterprises is often more intense.
Transmission Effects in Regional Industrial Belts
As the main domestic polyester filament production area, Zhejiang Province has a large concentration of DTY capacity in Hangzhou and Shaoxing. Rongsheng's quotation base is in Hangzhou, while Zhejiang Juxing is in Shaoxing, less than 100 kilometers apart but with distinctly different market positions. DTY capacity in the Shaoxing area is dominated by small and medium-sized enterprises with severe product homogeneity, relying more on price competition to clear inventory.
This regional price divergence is beginning to transmit to other industrial belts. Public industry data shows that DTY traders in Shengze, Jiangsu, and Changle, Fujian, have started to benchmark against Shaoxing quotations for negotiations. For buyers, this means the potential for cross-regional price comparison is expanding, but caution is needed regarding possible quality fluctuations accompanying low-priced goods—the 150D/48F specification is mainly used in water-jet looms for producing simulated silk fabrics, which require high evenness.
Real Feedback from Downstream Demand
The fundamental reason for price loosening remains weak end-demand. NBS data for June shows that the industrial value-added growth rate of the textile industry fell 0.8 percentage points from May, and garment export value decreased 4.1% month-on-month. Downstream weaving enterprises generally operate at a low 65%-70% utilization rate and adopt a "buy-as-needed" strategy for raw materials, unwilling to build inventory.
This demand structure change means DTY producers find it difficult to pass on cost pressures downstream. When PTA prices fall, DTY prices often follow with a larger decline; when PTA rebounds, DTY price increases are constrained by demand, forming an asymmetric price transmission mechanism. Over the next 1-2 months, if terminal orders do not improve significantly, DTY prices may further drop to the 8800-8900 yuan/ton range.
