The July 5 Shengze yarn market appears calm on the surface—most prices remain unchanged from July 3—but beneath the tranquility, clear divergence has emerged across categories. Cotton yarn prices are stable, while polyester yarn 50s faces sluggish sales; rayon 10s shows movement but overall trading volume is low; polyester-viscose blends even saw a 100 RMB/ton uptick for specific items. On the raw material side, polyester staple fiber averages 7,500 RMB/ton, and viscose staple fiber averages 14,200 RMB/ton, both in adjustment mode. These signals suggest downstream weaving mills need to recalibrate their procurement strategies.
Cotton Yarn: Stability with Structural Opportunities
Cotton yarn 21s and 32s remain hot trading items. 32s cotton yarn is mainly used for jet-loom production of "fugui fang" fabric, which sees demand in summer home textiles and garment linings. Prices for 21s (Anhui, 20,200 RMB/ton) and 32s (Jiangsu, 23,600 RMB/ton) are unchanged from July 3. However, the overall "stable adjustment" means the market is not rigid—upstream cotton price fluctuations and downstream order sustainability will determine whether this stability holds over the next two weeks. For buyers, current cotton yarn prices sit in a relatively safe zone, but caution is needed regarding the lagged effect of raw material cost transmission.
Polyester Yarn: 45s and 50s in Opposite Directions
Clear divergence marks the polyester yarn market. 45s sees decent trading volume, primarily for polyester-cotton lining production, supported by stable demand from garment orders. But 50s is sluggish—Shaanxi-produced 50s is quoted at 16,000 RMB/ton, unchanged from July 3, but actual transaction volumes are shrinking. 50s pure polyester yarn is typically used for high-count, high-density chemical fiber fabrics, and weak end-user demand is the main culprit. With polyester staple fiber at 7,500 RMB/ton and limited room for further adjustment, the outlook for pure polyester yarn is not optimistic—a moderate adjustment seems inevitable unless downstream orders improve significantly. For mills, maintaining production of 45s is feasible, but inventory management for 50s requires extra caution.
Polyester-Viscose and Polyester-Cotton Blends: Local Price Moves Hint at Cost Pressure
Polyester-viscose blends show relative strength. T65/R35 32s (Jiangsu) rose 100 RMB/ton to 14,300 RMB/ton, one of the few price increases in this batch. These blends are commonly used in wool-like fabrics and autumn/winter garments, and this uptick may signal early activation of autumn/winter orders. In contrast, polyester-cotton blends saw declines: T80/C20 45s (Shanghai) fell 100 RMB/ton to 16,700 RMB/ton, and T90/C10 60s (Heilongjiang) also dropped 100 RMB/ton to 17,300 RMB/ton. The declines in polyester-cotton blends echo the weakness in pure polyester—varieties with higher polyester content are more vulnerable to the sluggishness in the pure polyester raw material market.
Rayon Yarn: 10s Moves, but Overall Volume Limited
Rayon yarn 10s emerged as another active item in this market, mainly used for diamond cotton fabric production. Diamond cotton is a fabric with special luster and hand feel, finding niche demand in summer women's wear and children's clothing. 10s (Nantong) is quoted at 15,700 RMB/ton, stable. But aside from 10s, other rayon yarn varieties see low trading volume, with quotes holding steady. Viscose staple fiber at 14,200 RMB/ton is at a relatively high level, yet rayon yarn prices have not followed upward, indicating limited downstream acceptance of high-priced rayon yarn. Buyers are largely adopting a just-in-time procurement strategy. A moderate adjustment in rayon yarn is possible in the coming period, with the magnitude depending on whether viscose staple fiber prices soften.
