The traditional laminated filter cartridges used in industrial dust removal often suffer from membrane peeling under high temperature and humidity, leading to emission exceedances and increased energy consumption. Recently, a project titled 'Key Technologies and Industrial Application of Energy-Saving, High-Temperature and Corrosion-Resistant Ultra-Long Spunlace Filter Cartridges' passed the appraisal organized by the China National Textile and Apparel Council, with its overall technology rated as internationally advanced. This marks the transition of domestic non-laminated spunlace filter cartridges from laboratory to large-scale application, potentially reshaping the industry's reliance on laminated technology.
Technological Breakthroughs: From Gradient Control to Ultra-Long Forming
The project was led by Zhejiang Huaji Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Northeastern University, MCC South Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., and Tayho Advanced Materials Group. The core innovations include: precise gradient pore control and high-pressure wide-width forming for spunlace media, enabling superior heat and corrosion resistance; a microporous stiffening agent formula and high-permeability forming process that produces 3.5-meter ultra-long non-laminated cartridges with low resistance and high efficiency; and a high-reliability wire-frame internal support structure that eliminates dust dead zones, significantly reducing equipment energy consumption.
Traditional laminated cartridges rely on PTFE microporous membranes for filtration precision, but the bonding strength between membrane and substrate degrades rapidly under high temperatures. The non-laminated approach directly creates gradient pores within the fiber layer during the spunlace process, avoiding membrane detachment risks. This technical route places higher demands on upstream fiber materials, with Tayho's high-temperature aramid substrates playing a critical role.
Production Capacity: Two Bases Build a Mass-Production Moat
Currently, two production bases have been established in Tiantai, Zhejiang, and Wuhan, Hubei, with a total annual filter media capacity of 36 million square meters. The Wuhan base is equipped with the world's first ultra-wide ultra-high-pressure spunlace machine, making it the only facility in China capable of producing 3.6-meter non-spliced one-piece spunlace filter cartridges at scale. This capacity layout means domestic non-laminated cartridges have the supply foundation for large-scale replacement of traditional products.
For buyers, the localization advantage directly translates into shorter lead times and better cost control. Steel companies that previously relied on imported laminated cartridges can now obtain domestic alternatives with equivalent or superior performance, avoiding supply chain disruptions from international logistics.
Market Validation: Emission Data and Global Reach
The products have been applied on a large scale in industries such as steel, power generation, and waste incineration. Engineering tests show that particulate matter emissions are consistently below 3.5 mg per standard cubic meter, well under the national ultra-low emission standard of 10 mg/m³. This provides a significant safety margin for enterprises in environmental compliance.
On the export front, products have been shipped to over 40 countries and regions worldwide. From palm oil processing plants in Southeast Asia to waste-to-energy plants in Europe, the stability of non-laminated solutions in high-temperature, high-humidity environments has gained international customer recognition. According to industry public data, the project's full production capacity is expected to generate annual output value exceeding 1.5 billion yuan, reflecting strong demand in the high-end filter cartridge market.
Downstream Impact: Dual Benefits of Energy Saving and Lower Maintenance
Traditional cartridges experience increased pressure drop due to membrane peeling, leading to higher fan energy consumption. The non-laminated design reduces operating resistance by eliminating dust dead zones, directly cutting electricity usage. For continuously operating steel sintering machines or coal-fired power plants, this improvement can save hundreds of thousands of kilowatt-hours annually.
Moreover, extended cartridge lifespan reduces replacement frequency. The non-laminated structure avoids sudden filtration efficiency drops caused by membrane delamination, extending effective service life by over 30% under high-temperature conditions. This is particularly critical for the waste incineration industry, where frequent shutdowns for filter replacement not only affect throughput but also involve hazardous waste disposal costs.
