The benchmark price of nylon DTY settled at 15,760 yuan per ton on July 10, down 0.51% from the beginning of the month. The annual price center has shifted significantly downward from the high of 18,960 yuan per ton in July 2025. Behind this figure lies the tug-of-war between upstream and downstream segments of the nylon chain, signaling that spinning mills must adjust procurement pace within a narrowing profit margin.

Price Movement and Inventory Cycle

From an annual perspective, nylon DTY prices have fluctuated between 13,560 yuan per ton and 18,960 yuan per ton. The current level of 15,760 yuan per ton is at the lower-middle range, still 500 yuan away from the median of 16,260 yuan per ton. Although the daily decline of 0.38% is modest, the continuous drop since early month indicates a lack of clear rebound momentum.
- The peak-to-current gap is -3,200 yuan per ton, meaning prices have fallen 16.9% from the yearly high, reflecting significant destocking pressure.
- The bottom gap stands at 2,200 yuan per ton, suggesting that while prices are declining, they have not yet reached the cost-support floor, leaving room for further downside.
- The average price of 15,056.34 yuan per ton indicates that current prices are still about 4.7% above the annual mean, but if the downtrend continues, they will soon break below the average line.

For buyers, this means raw material costs are relatively low, but caution is needed against further price declines, making large bulk purchases inadvisable.

Upstream-Downstream Transmission and Regional Impact

Changes in nylon DTY prices directly affect downstream weaving and garment processing. The current weakness stems from two main pressures: cost collapse due to caprolactam capacity release upstream, and sluggish purchasing sentiment due to weak terminal garment order growth.

In major nylon industrial clusters such as Changle in Fujian and Yiwu in Zhejiang, spinning mills generally report inventory turnover days extending to over 30 days, compared to around 20 days in the same period last year. Some small and medium enterprises are forced to cut prices to offload goods, further dragging down market averages.

Meanwhile, the overall chemical fiber chain is also under pressure. Polyester filament and spandex are facing similar price headwinds. This is not an isolated phenomenon for nylon but a signal that the entire textile raw material sector is entering an adjustment phase. Foreign trade companies should closely monitor inventory replenishment rhythms overseas, especially demand recovery in Southeast Asia.

Practical Recommendations

For Buyers - Current prices are at the lower-middle range, suitable for procurement on demand. Avoid overstocking due to low prices, as further declines could lead to inventory impairment. - Monitor upstream caprolactam price trends. If it stabilizes around 13,000 yuan per ton, the bottom support for nylon DTY will gradually become clear. - Negotiate short-term floating price agreements with suppliers, locking in processing fees to transfer raw material price risk upstream.

For Foreign Trade Companies - Use the current price window to sign forward orders with overseas clients, locking in low raw material costs to enhance quotation competitiveness. - Track loom utilization rates in Southeast Asian markets (e.g., Vietnam, Bangladesh). If rates recover above 70%, it will boost demand for nylon DTY exports. - Diversify sourcing beyond domestic suppliers. Assess the price advantage of imported nylon DTY, especially from Taiwan and South Korea.
