Nylon FDY Price Drops to Mid-Low Level, Intensifying Supply-Demand Game in Textile Industry
On July 10, 2026, the benchmark price of nylon FDY stood at 16,250 CNY per ton, down 0.31% from 16,300 CNY per ton at the beginning of the month. This price has fallen to a mid-low level within the past year's range, with a gap of 3,700 CNY per ton compared to the annual high of 19,950 CNY per ton, representing a decline of nearly 18.6%.
Supply-Demand Dynamics Behind the Price Trend
According to annual statistics, nylon FDY fluctuated between 14,175 CNY and 19,950 CNY per ton, with the current price closer to the bottom than the top. Industry data shows that the average price over the past year was 15,619 CNY per ton. Although the current price is about 4% above the average, it is in a downward channel, indicating that the supply-demand balance for nylon FDY is shifting from tight to loose.
On the raw material side, caprolactam, the main upstream material for nylon, has recently seen price declines, directly weakening the cost support for nylon FDY. Meanwhile, demand recovery in downstream weaving and apparel sectors has fallen short of expectations. Overseas orders, in particular, have slowed due to high inventory levels in foreign markets. The combined pressure from both supply and demand has pushed nylon FDY prices downward.
Impact on Industrial Clusters
Industrial clusters such as Changle in Fujian and Hai'an in Jiangsu are bearing the brunt. Changle, the largest nylon civil filament production base in China, has reduced its operating rate from 85% at the beginning of the year to around 75%. Some small and medium-sized enterprises have even started cutting production to stabilize prices. In Hai'an, the nylon supply chain faces inventory buildup, with downstream weaving mills showing weak purchasing willingness, mostly placing small orders on a just-in-time basis and avoiding stockpiling.
This price slump compresses profit margins for nylon FDY producers. If raw material costs fall slower than product prices, gross margins will further narrow. For export-dependent factories, exchange rate fluctuations also complicate pricing, leading to a stalemate in some foreign trade negotiations.
Short-Term Outlook and Operational Strategies
Currently, nylon FDY prices are at a mid-low level for the year, limiting further downside potential but also lacking momentum for a rebound. Industry sources expect that if downstream pre-season stocking for the 'Golden September and Silver October' period begins in the third quarter, prices may stabilize temporarily. However, uncertainties in overseas markets, particularly the expansion of textile production capacity in Southeast Asia, will continue to suppress export prices for nylon FDY.
