According to the price monitoring of bulk textile commodities on July 10, 2026, the market did not show an overall weakening trend, but the decline of three key varieties deserves attention: PTA fell by 0.79%, polyester staple fiber fell by 0.82%, and cotton fell by 0.98%. Although the declines are limited, given that the year-on-year increases of PTA and polyester staple fiber are as high as 21.80% and 9.43% respectively, this correction may indicate that upstream cost support is loosening.
Upstream Raw Material Correction: Linkage Effect of PTA and Polyester Staple Fiber
As the core raw material of the polyester chain, PTA's price trend directly transmits to polyester staple fiber and polyester filament yarn. On July 10, PTA price dropped from 5957.84 yuan/ton to 5910.50 yuan/ton, while polyester staple fiber fell from 7392.90 yuan/ton to 7332.23 yuan/ton on the same day. The two declined synchronously, with the decline of polyester staple fiber slightly larger than that of PTA, indicating that downstream demand is weakening in accepting high-priced raw materials. Although the prices of polyester POY, DTY, and FDY remained stable temporarily, if PTA continues to fall, the downward pressure on these varieties will soon become apparent. For chemical fiber weaving enterprises, this means that procurement costs may decline periodically, but they need to be vigilant against inventory impairment risks caused by rapid price fluctuations of raw materials.
Cotton Market: Internal-External Price Spread and Cotton Yarn Profit Margin
Cotton price fell 0.98% in a single day to 17,706 yuan/ton, with a year-on-year increase of 16.48%, making it the third highest year-on-year increase among all monitored varieties (after PTA and spandex). The prices of cotton yarn 21S and 32S remained unchanged from the previous trading day, at 23,466.67 yuan/ton and 24,875 yuan/ton respectively, with year-on-year increases of 7.81% and 7.22%. The increase in cotton yarn is significantly lower than that of cotton, meaning that the profit margin of spinning enterprises is being compressed. If cotton prices continue to correct, cotton yarn prices may follow downward, but in the short term, the relative firmness of cotton yarn prices reflects that there is still some replenishment demand in the downstream grey fabric and garment sectors.
Chemical Fibers and Yarns: Most Varieties Stable, Spandex Leads Year-on-Year Gains
Among the 15 monitored varieties, except for the three varieties mentioned above, the prices of the remaining 12 varieties were unchanged from July 9. Raw silk price remained at 425,700 yuan/ton, but it fell 10.07% year-on-year, making it the only variety with a year-on-year decline, reflecting weak demand in the silk industry. Spandex price remained stable at 29,666.67 yuan/ton, with a year-on-year increase of 21.09%, the highest among all varieties. The high increase in spandex is mainly driven by the cost push of upstream raw materials MDI and PTMEG, as well as the support from demand for elastic fabrics. Viscose staple fiber and nylon series prices were stable, with year-on-year increases of 6%-9%, indicating a relatively balanced supply and demand in the man-made fiber and nylon chains.
Industry Strategy under Price Divergence: Focus on Inventory and Order Rhythm
The current price pattern shows the characteristics of 'upstream raw materials loosening, midstream yarns stable, and downstream demand to be verified.' For textile enterprises, the decline in PTA and polyester staple fiber may represent a phased procurement window, but it needs to be operated cautiously based on their own order cycles and inventory levels. If cotton prices further correct, it will improve the cost structure of cotton spinning enterprises, but whether cotton yarn prices can synchronously decline depends on the recovery of terminal garment orders. The high level of spandex poses cost pressure on elastic fabric producers, and it is recommended to evaluate the feasibility of alternative materials.
