Comfort, green credentials, and scenario-specific functionality are reshaping consumer apparel priorities, with fiber material upgrades serving as the foundational support. Recently, a delegation from the China Fashion Fabric Design Competition and Sateri visited FMG Fashion Dynamics Group and Peacebird Group to discuss green fiber applications and innovative fabric solutions. This face-to-face exchange was more than a routine supply-demand matchmaking; it signals a shift in the textile industry from material innovation toward end-product collaboration.
Event Background
The delegation included senior representatives from the China Textile Information Center, Huajia Textile Product Development Center, and Sateri, such as Li Lei, Director of the Creative Design Department at CTIC, and Pan Yanhua, Director of Downstream Market Development at Sateri. FMG's functional brand BENLAI focuses on casual outdoor wear, demanding high comfort, functionality, and sustainability. Peacebird, with its multi-brand portfolio, prioritizes supply chain efficiency, quality stability, and differentiation.
Sateri highlighted two core green fibers. Lyocell blends cotton's breathability, polyester's strength, and silk's softness, suitable for T-shirts, jackets, and trousers across seasons. The Ecovero® series emphasizes natural skin-friendliness and easy dyeing, ideal for sweatshirts and loungewear. Among them, CloudMu™ matt cellulose fiber offers a soft matte finish and UPF 50+ with breathability, matching the trend of merging outdoor leisure with daily commuting. This product range provides brands with ample options for differentiation.
Industry Impact
The core value of this engagement lies in bridging the gap between upstream fiber innovation and downstream market needs. At FMG, discussions centered on scenario-based needs for youth outdoor wear, commercial viability of sustainable materials, and cost optimization for functional fabrics. This indicates that fiber suppliers must evolve from raw material providers to partners who deeply understand brand positioning and consumer pain points.
For Peacebird, supply chain efficiency and quality consistency are more urgent. Partner mills like Wujiang Dongfang Jet Weaving Factory and Guangzhou Taisen Nianfeng Textile Co. brought fabric samples developed with Sateri fibers, allowing the brand team to assess real-world applicability. This “fiber-fabric-brand” tripartite model shortens the cycle from lab to shelf and reduces trial-and-error costs.
From an industry perspective, this model signals a shift from linear transactions to networked collaboration. Upstream players must anticipate brands’ next-season development rhythms, while brands need to channel consumer feedback earlier to material suppliers. The 2026 China Fashion Fabric Design Competition, in partnership with Sateri, is accepting entries for the “Ecovero® Market Application Award” and “Lyocell Market Application Award.” Winning products will be showcased at Keqiao Fashion Week and Guangzhou International Textile City, further accelerating commercialization.
