A key piece has fallen into place in Southwest China's textile landscape. On July 21, the Yunnan Bohai Tai Textile Co., Ltd. launched its 60,000-ton annual knitted fabric project in the Kaiyuan Green Textile Science and Technology Park, with a total investment of 650 million yuan and plans for 20 intelligent production lines. Once fully operational, the project is expected to generate an annual output value exceeding 1 billion yuan and directly create over 1,200 local jobs.
Industry Transfer Logic: From Guangzhou's Zhongda to Kaiyuan
Bohai Tai's parent company, Guangzhou Delaika Textile, founded in 2019, has become one of the top ten fabric traders in the Zhongda fabric market, with annual sales exceeding 1 billion yuan. Its business covers the entire chain from raw materials, yarn, weaving, dyeing, testing to trade. This westward move to Kaiyuan is a typical example of the orderly transfer of high-quality textile capacity from eastern to southwestern border regions.
The company's strategic considerations for choosing Kaiyuan are clear: local clean energy significantly reduces steam and electricity costs, providing solid support for green and low-carbon production; the location, backed by Kunming and adjacent to the Hekou port, allows simultaneous access to both domestic and Southeast Asian markets. This means the project is not just about capacity expansion, but a forward deployment of a cross-border supply chain targeting the RCEP market.
Green and Smart: A Model for Southwest Dyeing and Printing
Dong Shuxiu, Vice President of the China Dyeing and Printing Association, noted at the launch ceremony that the textile industry is accelerating its transformation towards green, low-carbon, and intelligent manufacturing, with the southwest region being a core destination for industrial transfer. The Bohai Tai project is positioned as a landmark project for regional green textile transformation, filling the gap in the local high-end knitted fabric industry chain.
Technically, the project will promote processes such as low-liquor-ratio dyeing, water reuse, and waste heat recovery, leveraging local energy advantages to create a low-carbon dyeing and printing model for the southwest. Meanwhile, intelligent management systems like MES and ERP will be deeply integrated into production, enabling flexible customization and high value-added fabric manufacturing. This indicates that the Kaiyuan Green Textile Park is shifting from 'capacity acceptance' to 'technology leadership', with its demonstration significance far exceeding the 60,000-ton capacity itself.
Dual Dividends of Policy and Location: A Textile Hub for Southeast Asia
In 2023, the Kaiyuan Green Textile Science and Technology Park was incorporated into the overall plan of the Hekou Border Industrial Park, making it the only industrial park in Yunnan Province with complete textile dyeing and printing capacity. Bai Limin, Deputy Director of the Industrial Park Office of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, pointed out from the perspective of national industrial gradient transfer that the park, with its stable and low-cost industrial heat, combined with port, border opening, and RCEP cooperation advantages, is a high-quality carrier for undertaking industrial transfer and building an internal-external linkage development model.
For foreign trade buyers, this means the industrial synergy model of 'fabric from southern Yunnan, garments from Southeast Asia, and sales markets from Europe and America' is taking shape. After the project is completed, Bohai Tai will directly fill the supply gap for high-end knitted fabrics in the southwest region, building a green textile supply chain that connects domestic and Southeast Asian markets.
Local Government Support: Leap from Pilot to Demonstration Park
Mayor Pu Chuanfeng of Kaiyuan City stated clearly at the ceremony that the textile industry is a key industry for enriching the people and a pillar for export-oriented development. The Bohai Tai project will fill the shortfall in local high-end knitted fabric dyeing and printing capacity, enrich the industrial ecosystem, and broaden cross-border trade channels, serving as a critical support for the city's sprint towards a 10-billion-yuan textile industry cluster.
The local government has promised full lifecycle services for the project, implementing closed-loop management from land approval, energy supply to labor guarantees. This business environment of 'full-process agency and proactive service' is a core factor attracting eastern enterprises like Delaika to move west. With the commissioning of the Bohai Tai project, the Kaiyuan Green Textile Science and Technology Park is expected to leap from a national pilot park to a national demonstration park, becoming a new growth pole for the southwest textile industry.
