While the industry is still debating overcapacity in conventional fiberglass fabrics, Yongguan New Material has placed a decisive bet on electronic-grade glass fiber fabric in Dongxiang, Jiangxi. With a 300 million yuan investment and an annual capacity of 2,000 tons, this signals the company’s formal entry into the high-end electronic materials sector.
Project Logic and Industrial Context
The Dongxiang district government has pledged comprehensive support in land, labor, and energy—this is no mere formality. For precision materials like electronic-grade glass fabric, stable power supply and a clean production environment are critical to yield rates. Chairman Lyu Xinmin’s remark that the company has been rooted in Dongxiang for 14 years underscores that this project is not impulsive but built on long-term industrial ecosystem accumulation. Transitioning from adhesive tape substrates to electronic fabric is a natural progression: the precision weaving, sizing, tension control, surface treatment, and fiber processing required for glass fiber tape and cloth-based tape are core technologies for electronic fabric production. Yongguan is essentially leveraging over two decades of process expertise to achieve product upgrading within the same industrial zone.
Downstream Demand and Market Outlook
The global electronics industry is at a structural inflection point, with automotive electronics, 5G/6G communications, and data center switches driving sustained growth. These applications demand higher quality and volume of PCB substrates—namely electronic-grade glass fabric. China Customs data shows that in 2025, import dependency for high-end electronic fabric remains high, leaving clear room for domestic substitution. Yongguan’s 2,000-ton capacity may not be massive, but it targets differentiated high-end markets rather than low-end plain weave fabric. This implies significantly higher pricing and gross margins compared to conventional fiberglass, offering a tangible boost to profitability. For buyers, having an additional supplier with full-process capabilities strengthens bargaining power and supply chain security.
Industrial Cluster Upgrade Signal
Dongxiang was previously known for traditional textiles and basic material processing. Yongguan’s electronic fabric project effectively pushes the region’s positioning from labor-intensive to technology-intensive. Upgrades in land, labor, and energy infrastructure will attract more similar high-end material companies. For traditional clusters like Shengze and Keqiao, this is a warning: mere expansion in fabric capacity has reached its limit. The real growth lies in transitioning to electronic-grade and industrial-grade functional materials. Yongguan’s choice to set up in inland Jiangxi rather than coastal areas also reflects capital’s reassessment of inland advantages in energy costs and labor stability.
