A production line capable of turning out 40 million meters of high-end printed and dyed fabric annually has just gone fully operational in Touzao Town, Dongtai, Jiangsu. With a total investment of 100 million yuan and 130 sets of specialized equipment—including washing machines, jig dyeing machines, pre-shrinking combined units, and stenters—the project targets premium apparel and home textile markets. As land costs and environmental constraints tighten in southern Jiangsu, this investment signals a new direction for the textile supply chain.
Capacity and Industrial Belt Logic
Dongtai sits in northern Jiangsu, across the river from Nantong. The newly launched company explicitly states it will leverage Nantong's mature textile technology, market channels, and resource advantages. This reflects a clear industrial migration trend: Nantong, a traditional hub for home textiles and fabrics, is facing rising pressure from land, labor, and environmental costs, prompting some high-value-added dyeing processes to move northward.
Touzao Town is not a passive recipient. As the core textile cluster of Dongtai, it has long cultivated the entire weaving and dyeing chain and actively attracts quality external projects. From January to July this year, textile enterprises above designated size in the town achieved cumulative sales revenue of 1.09 billion yuan, showing a solid industrial foundation. The new 40-million-meter capacity is therefore not an isolated case but part of a regional cluster expansion.
Equipment Upgrade and Product Positioning
The equipment list—washing, jig dyeing, pre-shrinking, and stenter machines—covers the core of dyeing and finishing. The scale of 130 units is above average for township-level projects. The adoption of fully automated equipment directly addresses quality consistency and delivery efficiency, two key procurement criteria for high-end apparel and home textile buyers.
For buyers, this new capacity in northern Jiangsu offers an alternative cost benchmark beyond the conventional Jiangsu-Zhejiang dyeing bases. For mid-to-high-end home textile brands requiring large volumes and stable dyeing quality, Touzao's project may be more cost-competitive than southern Jiangsu, but buyers must verify sample response speed and color fastness.
Transmission Effects Upstream and Downstream
Dyeing is a segment with high pollution control and technical barriers. The company's emphasis on safety and green production is both a response to policy and a prerequisite for entering high-end supply chains. For upstream dye and auxiliary suppliers, the new capacity means stable demand; for downstream apparel and home textile brands, it adds supply chain resilience.
Notably, Touzao's 1.09 billion yuan in sales for the first seven months is substantial on an annualized basis. However, dyeing projects typically require 6 to 12 months to reach full capacity. The actual pace of capacity release, yield rates, and order mix will determine the real market impact.
