When Indu Pradhan, Secretary General of the Nepal Trade Promotion Center, stated at the matchmaking fair that 'over 80% of home textile imports come from China, with Xucun fabrics taking the largest share,' the message resonated beyond the 24 Nepalese buyers in the room—it signaled the entire South Asian soft furnishing market's dependence on Xucun's supply chain. The 5th 'Xucun Premium' Home Textile Foreign Trade Matchmaking Fair revealed how China's textile clusters are shifting from order-based production to demand definition.
Event Background
On August 15, the 35th Haining Home Textile Fair opened, with the 5th 'Xucun Premium' matchmaking event as its core side-program. Over 100 overseas buyers from more than 20 countries, including Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Argentina, the Netherlands, and Russia, attended. The Nepal delegation was the largest, with 24 home furnishing buyers and fabric wholesalers; Pakistan's Chamber of Commerce brought five importers; Bangladesh sent ten distributors and finished-product importers on a direct flight.
These buyers did not come by chance. Haining Xucun boasts a complete chain from fabric weaving and design to finished products and market exhibitions, making it a key export base for China's home textiles. After four editions, the matchmaking fair has evolved from a simple industry event into an international trade platform. Deputy Mayor Zhang Ruqiang emphasized that the industry faces critical changes in consumption upgrades, technological iteration, and green transformation, urging the fair to continue empowering foreign trade and cultivating market entities.
Industry Impact
The core signal from the fair is that overseas buyers no longer settle for 'processing to sample'—they demand personalized customization from source factories. Nepal's representative noted that multi-layered intermediaries raised costs and prolonged lead times, whereas the fair allows direct factory access and tailored products. This 'on-demand precise sourcing' model is reshaping Xucun's production logic.
Data confirms this trend. Nepal's home textile market grows at 6.8% annually, with over 80% of imports from China, and Xucun fabrics are the largest source. This means Xucun enterprises can lock in South Asian incremental growth by seizing customization opportunities. Iran-China Friendship Association representative Mahmood Poor Mojtaba revealed that nearly 100% of his purchases come from Haining, with five containers shipped to Dubai last year alone. Such repeat loyalty stems from continuous innovation and quality.
Notably, new buyers are entering. Mauritania's Brahim family, with 30 years in upholstery, previously attended only Shanghai exhibitions; upon learning Xucun was the source factory, they made a special trip. Libya's Baiyang Company, shipping 300-400 containers annually, visited Haining for the first time and plans to seek partners aggressively. These cases show that Xucun's 'source factory' label now reaches emerging markets in the Middle East and Africa, with the fair serving as a gateway.
