A cross-provincial deal exceeding 100 million yuan is reshaping the collaboration logic of the textile industry along China's southeast coast. From August 17 to 19, Fujian's first large-scale out-of-province matchmaking event for textile and footwear was held in Shaoxing, Taizhou, and Wenzhou, Zhejiang, facilitating cooperation intentions among 16 enterprises and signing 8 projects with a total value (including intentions) of over 100 million yuan. This marks not only Fujian's first large-scale exit from the province but also a clear signal that domestic supply chains are shifting from 'single-point competition' to 'cross-regional synergy.'
Industry Background
The complementarity between Fujian and Zhejiang's textile industries has long been evident. Fujian boasts a complete chemical fiber chain from 'a drop of oil' to 'a piece of clothing,' with leading enterprises like Hengshen and Yongrong possessing cost and scale advantages in raw materials; Zhejiang, on the other hand, excels in fashion design, smart manufacturing, and professional market operations, with brand enterprises like Baoxiniao and Semir in Wenzhou and the Taizhou Outdoor Jacket Science Park representing market sensitivity. In this matchmaking event, Fujian organized over 20 backbone enterprises including Jinyuan, Haitian, and Xiangxing, bringing innovative products such as new materials and functional fabrics to face-to-face meetings with over 80 Zhejiang supply chain enterprises, with over 200 participants in total.
From a data perspective, Fujian's textile industry resilience is strengthening. In the first half of 2026, the added value of Fujian's textile industry grew by 7.2% year-on-year, 4.2 percentage points higher than the national average. Behind this growth is the gradual emergence of a full-chain synergy from chemical fiber raw materials, dyeing and finishing fabrics to terminal brands. Zhejiang, as one of the top three provinces in textile industry scale, with advantages in R&D design and green transformation, just fills Fujian's gaps in brand premium and smart manufacturing.
Industry Impact
The significance of this cross-provincial matchmaking goes far beyond a billion-yuan order. For Fujian enterprises, it means a shift from 'production-oriented' to 'demand-oriented'—by directly entering Zhejiang's industrial clusters, they can understand brand requirements for functional fabrics and green processes, forcing R&D adjustments. For Zhejiang enterprises, a stable supply of chemical fiber raw materials and Fujian's capacity advantages can alleviate cost pressures from raw material price fluctuations, especially amid increasing foreign trade uncertainty, making the stability of intra-provincial supply chains a key factor in procurement decisions.
Notably, during the event, Fujian enterprises visited Wenzhou Daxiangcheng International Fabric Center and Taizhou Outdoor Jacket Science Park, going into workshops to observe production and discuss cooperation. This 'on-site observation + precise matchmaking' model builds trust better than traditional exhibitions. Some participating enterprises reported that cooperation intentions on technical breakthroughs and market sharing may turn into actual orders within the next six months, with expectations of more billion-yuan projects to come.
From an industry perspective, such cross-provincial collaboration is reshaping the competitive landscape of China's textile industry. In the past, industrial belts fought independently, leading to homogeneous competition; now, with 'chain strengthening' as the goal, cross-regional synergy allows for optimal allocation of raw materials, design, manufacturing, and markets across provinces. Fujian's ambition to build a trillion-yuan modern textile and footwear cluster, and Zhejiang's desire to consolidate its fashion industry highland, essentially represent an upgrade of 'internal circulation' efficiency.
