Orders for spunmelt nonwoven production lines are returning at an unusual pace. Hongda Research Institute saw new contracts surge 148.7% YoY and backlog grow 86.4% in H1 2026, far outpacing industry averages. For buyers, this signals longer lead times and makes early capacity reservation more critical than ever.
The Logic Behind Order Growth
The surge is not an isolated event. Overseas projects in Turkey and Poland are progressing with on-site installation and technical services, indicating that domestic spunmelt equipment has cross-regional delivery capability. Domestically, a Fujian project passed acceptance, Hebei projects are advancing, a Zhejiang contract has taken effect, and new customer interest is rising in Jiangsu—signs that capital expenditure across the industry chain is recovering.
This growth is driven by downstream demand. Nonwoven materials are expanding in hygiene, medical, filtration, and other applications, pushing end-users to demand higher efficiency, lower energy consumption, and smarter production lines. Hongda's order book includes a commercial delivery of a wide-width PE/PP bicomponent spunbond line with fully qualified performance, directly addressing market needs for high-grammage and multi-component products.
The Value of Technology Reserves
Behind the orders lies a deep technology reserve. The ionic liquid solvent bamboo fiber project, after three years of research, has entered the pilot engineering design stage, with construction drawings planned for Q3. Bamboo fiber as a renewable resource, once the solvent process matures, will significantly reduce the environmental pressure of traditional viscose processes, offering downstream fabric makers a new differentiated raw material option.
Moreover, multiple breakthroughs in specialty fiber spinning processes are accelerating technology iteration. For the industry, domestic equipment makers are no longer just about cost-effectiveness; they are starting to define next-generation production lines. For buyers, the risk of choosing domestic equipment is decreasing, but technology validation cycles still need to be factored into decisions.
The Hidden Value of Management Upgrades
Beyond orders and R&D, management system upgrades deserve attention. SAP and BIP systems have been fully deployed and continuously optimized, with 11 new or revised regulations. Such infrastructure improvements directly impact project delivery quality and cost control. For foreign trade clients, this means more reliable supplier performance, especially in multi-project and cross-border service scenarios.
