A telling statistic: in the first half of 2026, Fujian's textile industry value-added grew 7.2% year-on-year, 4.2 percentage points above the national average. Meanwhile, Fujian's textile and footwear sector is looking beyond its borders—its first out-of-province matchmaking event took place in Shaoxing, Taizhou, and Wenzhou, Zhejiang, from August 17 to 19, facilitating collaboration among 16 companies and signing 8 projects worth over 100 million yuan. This dual trend of growth and outward expansion underscores a deeper shift from "single-point advantages" to "chain-wide synergy" in Fujian's textile industry.
Outbound Matchmaking: From Selling Products to Linking Resources
Fujian's "New Products Zhejiang Tour" was not a simple exhibition but a targeted industrial collaboration initiative. Organized by the Fujian Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, the event brought over 20 leading enterprises such as Jinyuan, Haitian, and Xiangxing, along with representatives from universities and research institutes, into Zhejiang's textile clusters. They engaged with more than 80 local companies including Qiaodun and Dixiang. The program combined precise matchmaking sessions with on-site visits, where Fujian firms showcased innovative products like new materials and functional fabrics, while Zhejiang companies presented procurement and cooperation needs.
Notably, Fujian companies did more than display products—they also studied local practices. Visits to Wenzhou's Baoxiniao and Semir, Taizhou's Lantu Outdoor and Dixiang Apparel, as well as the Wenzhou Daxiangcheng International Fabric Center and Taizhou Outdoor Jacket Science Park, allowed them to observe smart manufacturing, brand management, and park operations. This signals Fujian's intent to learn from Zhejiang's strengths in design and branding to offset its own weaknesses in terminal brands and fashion innovation.
Complementary Strengths: Fujian's Chain vs. Zhejiang's Ecosystem
Fujian's textile and footwear industry boasts a complete chain—from petrochemical raw materials to yarn, dyeing and finishing, and finally to apparel and footwear. But a complete chain does not automatically mean high value. Zhejiang's textile sector, ranking among the nation's top, excels in fashion design, smart manufacturing, green transformation, and professional market operations. The two provinces are highly complementary: Fujian offers strong chemical fiber and manufacturing capacity, while Zhejiang brings brand operation and market access.
This complementarity is reflected in the signed projects, which cover R&D of new textile materials, functional fabric upgrades, original design, and green production—areas where the provinces' strengths intersect. For Fujian firms, engaging with Zhejiang brands and designers helps them better grasp consumer trends and convert capacity into premium pricing. For Zhejiang companies, Fujian's supply of chemical fibers and fabrics offers a stable, cost-effective sourcing base.
Cluster Effect: Policy Push Behind 1.7 Billion Yuan in Deals
This event marked the first out-of-province session in Fujian's "Hundred Enterprises, Thousand Products" supply chain matchmaking series. Since its launch in May 2026, the series has facilitated 25 signed projects, including supply-demand and financing cooperation, with a total value exceeding 1.7 billion yuan. These numbers reflect not just corporate willingness but also Fujian's policy determination to build a trillion-yuan modern textile and footwear cluster.
From an industrial belt perspective, Fujian's clusters—Quanzhou for footwear and apparel, Changle for chemical fibers, and Jinjiang for sportswear—already enjoy scale advantages. Inter-provincial collaboration helps avoid homogeneous competition and improves overall efficiency through regional division of labor. For buyers, this means a richer supplier base and more flexible capacity; for factories, it opens new order channels and technology upgrade paths.
