Nearly 100 intended collaborations were sealed in just three days—this is not an ordinary trade show scorecard but a clear signal that East Asia's textile supply chain is recalibrating its supply-demand match. From August 19 to 21, the 4th China Textile City Seoul Fabric & Accessory Exhibition took place alongside the Seoul PIS International Fabric Show, with 49 Keqiao enterprises showcasing over 10,000 fabric products and attracting more than 20,000 visitors.

Background

The timing of this pavilion is telling. Recent high-level exchanges between China and South Korea have highlighted green transition and consumer goods supply chains as new growth areas for high-value cooperation, providing a policy backdrop for cross-border ties in traditional manufacturing. Keqiao's decision to embed itself deeply into Korea's fashion supply chain at this juncture appears aimed not just at short-term orders but at paving long-term export channels for the regional industrial cluster.

The shift in product mix is even more revealing. Knitted, woven, recycled, functional, and original print fabrics were fully represented, with popular categories—natural cotton, green recycled materials, sports functionality, washed finishes, cotton-nylon blends, and embroidery—directly aligning with the sourcing needs of Korean womenswear, casual wear, fast fashion, and outdoor apparel. This precision was no accident: the Keqiao delegation had earlier visited leading Korean brands such as Hyundai and Donggwang International to research color trends, print directions, and sustainable sourcing standards, even mapping out the demands of small-batch, quick-response production.

Industrial Impact

The value of physical exhibitions was amplified during this event. Fabric is a highly tactile product; hand feel, drape, texture, and finishing techniques cannot be fully conveyed through online images. When Korean sourcing teams touched the texture of T/R yarn-dyed fabrics or inspected the worn effect of washed cotton-nylon blends, trust was built far faster than through virtual meetings. For buyers, such face-to-face discussions on craftsmanship directly affect the credibility of sampling cycles and delivery commitments.

Green and sustainable fabrics emerged as a clear highlight. The deepening of ESG principles in the Korean market is changing sourcing standards, and the GRS/RCS-certified recycled series from multiple Keqiao companies drew significant attention. What does this mean? For suppliers, certification is no longer a bonus but a threshold for entering brand supply chains. Functional, digital-print, and embroidered fabrics also made a strong showing, reflecting the complete supporting capabilities of the Keqiao industrial belt in differentiated competition.

Exhibitor feedback further confirmed the dual value of the event. Shaoxing Fanda Textile presented a range of T/R yarn-dyed fabrics with varied patterns and compositions, while Yishuai Textile received multiple sample and quotation requests for its washed and cotton-nylon new products. A representative from Changran Textile noted that offline communication captures real sourcing needs that are easily overlooked online—an invaluable opportunity for market research. Executives from Dongcan Textile and Changdi Import & Export both said that in-depth exchanges with Korean buyers helped establish stable partnerships. Lee Sang-bong, head of the Korea Fashion Designers Association, remarked after visiting the booths that the new fabrics were very helpful for guiding product development and understanding current Chinese fabric trends.

Practical Recommendations

For Buyers - Prioritize requesting GRS, RCS, or equivalent certification reports to ensure recycled fabrics meet your brand's ESG commitments. - Use the exhibition floor to compare the tactile differences of various finishes (e.g., washed, cotton-nylon blends) and clarify minimum order quantities and sampling lead times for small-batch, quick-response needs. - Establish direct links with Keqiao source factories to bypass intermediaries and reduce development costs.

For Exporters - Treat overseas exhibitions as market-research windows to gather intelligence on color, print, and trend directions, feeding insights back into domestic product development. - Prepare certified samples in advance based on Korean market preferences, and strengthen the presentation of finishing technologies. - Proactively communicate buyer-invitation and matchmaking needs to organizers, helping upgrade exhibition services and improve lead-generation efficiency.
