It also reduces energy use by lowering dyeing temperatures and eliminating drying steps. Traditional wet mills face pressure to convert or lose orders. Dye suppliers innovate by developing disperse dyes optimized for CO₂ systems, driving chemical reformulation.
For brands and buyers, waterless-dyed products command a premium (10-15%) and boost ESG ratings. Designers can freely choose high-saturation colors without sustainability concerns. Exporters must navigate different regulations, such as the EU’s zero-discharge wastewater standard slated for 2027.
However, technical complexity limits adoption: equipment requires specialized maintenance, and the process currently suits only synthetics.
